Gordon Smith Weddings
Gordon picked up a camera in the mid-seventies, fell in love with the medium, and has been making photographs ever since. His images have won much praise over the years and he’s received a number of grants and awards including a Visual Arts Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. Gordon’s photographs have appeared in national newspapers including The Washington Post, New York Newsday, and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and in magazines such as Photographer’s Forum, San Francisco Camerawork, Art Matters, and Camera Arts Magazine. His work has also been featured by publications in Europe, Asia and South America.
Gordon’s photos can be found in many museums and private collections and his work has been widely exhibited, both in the United States and in Europe. His imagery is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, the University of Arizona’s Center for Creative Photography, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the Library of Congress, as well as museums in France, Belgium, Poland and The Netherlands.
Trained as a documentary photographer, Gordon is adept at capturing the emotions of the moment & his distinctive blend of candid and formal portraiture creates imagery which will be treasured for a lifetime. Gordon has documented hundreds of events over the years and his approach to wedding photography is both simple and direct. His philosophy is this: "To be attentive to his client’s needs, to blend in with the tenor of their wedding day in an unobtrusive and productive manner, and to transform the day’s visual possibilities into a definitive set of photographs which combine fine art sensibilities with the excitement of creative photojournalism".
